Ode to Vacuuming!

My old vacuum is really old. I called up the Hoover company to figure how old. We think it's about fifty! It was my Grandma's vacuum. I got it when I was a young married girl and she was moving out of her house into a nursing home. It's served it's time now and I'm so excited to have replaced it. Although it's been fun to own and use a vacuum with some history to it.

And because I'm a geek:

O Vacuum O Vacuum, how you have helped me
To keep my floors clean and choke hazard free.
Dust mites and spiders finally meet their match
and all other critters my vacuum will catch.
Crushed cherrios trampled below babies' toes
are soon defeated by my vacuum's hose.
Nothing, no nothing, will be left behind
all except carpet my vacuum will find.
After my vacuum has found gunk and dirt
into the bag with its kind it can flirt.
O vacuum, O vacuum now my house is clean
thanks to your suction my carpets gleam!!!

(I had help with this poem from my sister Barbara)
