Laundry Woes

Living without our appliances has proven the most painful when we need to do laundry. Taking dirty clothes from five people to a laundromat is difficult, adding three kids to the mix made it painful. Since I'm new to the area I just drove around the city until I found a laundromat to stop at. Once I got there I realized I didn't have the soap in my van, that it must be in our other car. Remember we're living in a hotel at this point, so all of our stuff was in our two cars or in storage. So I had to buy soap at the laundromat, using some of my precious quarters, so I only had enough money to wash two loads. I spent most of my sanity trying to keep my three girls from running circles around the machines bothering the other patrons.

A couple of days later I was smart and visited the bank first and brought a whole roll of quarters to the laundromat. I also made sure to have our soap in my car. I started the laundry and tried to keep the girls interested in the library books I had brought with me. When I went to move the clothes into the dryers I found that they didn't take quarters! They only took a card that you had to buy from a machine there. I found the machine but it didn't take quarters! Only bills! I was at a laundromat with dozens of quarters and couldn't dry my clothes! I had to load my heavy wet laundry back into the car with my three girls and find another laundromat to dry my clothes.

I will be happy to have my own machines back in my residence.

So happy to get an update! I have been thinking about you all the time. The laundromat is a total pain. I don't know how I could have done it without Michael to help carry everything! I hope you can get a place and get settled soon.

Katie,

That totally sucks. I feel your pain. When we were camping this summer we had major illness & my kids threw up all over their sleeping bags. Driving 10 miles into town & trying to keep a kid busy for almost 2 hours while people give you weird looks is not the idea I had in mind whn I sighned up for camping. Good luck house hunting!!

I can't imagine not having a washing machine within immediate proximity to my house! You are a pioneer in your own right. The one time I visited a laundromat I was anxious to leave the entire time!!!
