Food Storage

We went to Dairy Queen after Lily's science fair to use her coupon she was awarded. We, of course, all had to get ice cream while we were there. Eve couldn't eat it all that night, so this is how she saved it in the freezer.

I found it and threw it away the next day.

Fun in bed

Another day when we were cold, the girls all climbed into our bed to warm up in the morning.

Pyro Maniacs

So it was cold here for a couple days. Seriously, we had snow and our heater wasn't working. So we tried out our fire place for the first time. It was fun. We had our dinner as a picnic by the fire and we roasted marshmallows. The girls ate WAAAY too much sugar, but they loved it. Now, days later, we are still working on airing out our house so it stops smelling like campfire.

And don't worry, they came and fixed our heater just in time for the warm weather to come back. ;)

Art is a process, not a product.

So I bought this really cool sand art kit on clearance at Hobby Lobby. Lily was way excited about doing it and did it really well. She filled the five bottles with beautiful layers of colored sand. Both Gordon and I were so impressed. They were left out overnight, since I planned on sealing them later. The next morning Lily and Eve played with them again, stirring and shaking the containers until all the colors were blended, until all the beautiful layers were gone. I was so disappointed when I saw it. I had wanted to put them on display, to me they looked ruined. Lily was quick to defend her "art" to show how shiny they still were, how neat it was that you could still see all the individual colors up close, but it was a different color from far away.

I sealed them and they are displayed in our kitchen window, reminding me of the process of art.

Science Fair

Lily's project was to test where popcorn would store the best. Room temperature won. She seemed to enjoy the actual experiment process, but getting her to make the display board was difficult. But at school she was really proud of being in the science fair.

I'm caving in

We don't own a TV. But I'm in the market for one. We love to watch movies, and have watched them for years on our computers. But lately it's been a real struggle. It's a real pain to not be able to put on a video for the kids, or myself, when the computer is down. So I'm looking on Craigslist. I want to find a TV for $50 or less that is 25" or greater. And it would be nice to have a remote for it too, since that's a luxury we haven't had before. Wish me luck.

A Sister Married

Barbara has found her Prince Charming and married him. It was a beautiful wedding in the St. George temple. The sealer gave them lots of wonderful advice that I doubt they heard a word of. I least I wasn't touching Earth on my wedding day. The reception was hard, it was outdoors on a golf course with no way hide from the gusty wind. But they are married, and that is what's most important on that day.

A Random Rest Stop

In 2005 we went on a family trip to the Grand Canyon, during our time there we happened to stop at a rest stop/ trading post where Lily(4) and Isobel (2) played with the phones and had a great time.



On our drive up to Barbara's wedding we happened to stop in the same place.

Look! We're in Boston!

Gordon had a seminar to attend in Boston for two days. We thought this was a great opportunity for both of us to explore the neat city and visit with my sister and her husband. And we are so glad we did, we had so much fun. My saint of a Mom came to our house and watched the kids, so it was a weekend for us! Jessica and Luke are so much fun, we had a hard time going to bed every night because no one wanted to stop having fun.

We walked part of the the Freedom Trail. Which has lots of historic sights along the way. Luke was a perfect tour guide, he knew lots of history and facts about most of the buildings along the way.

Our New Pets

Sorry I'm so slow about posting recently, I've really no good excuse, I mostly just fell out of the habit. So let me catch you up with what's been going on in our household.

First we got our first pets! We decided to try out fish keeping. It was hard to be patient after deciding to do this to wait until finding a cheap tank on Craigslist (which I love). But the perfect one finally came along, a 10 gallon tank with fish, filter and heater included for twenty dollars! Our first couple of weeks were rocky as we had fish die while we were figuring things out. But the hardiest have survived and might be here for the long-haul.
