"Stop licking that rock!"
"Don't suck water out of the carpet!"
"Don't spit on my toes!"
All today, an adventurous day.

A Funny from Gordon
A woman was in the hospital feeling very ill. The doctor says to her, "I have some bad news for you. You only have three months to live."
"Oh, that's terrible," the woman sighs. "What am I going to do?"
The doctor replies, "Marry an actuary."
"Will I live longer?" asks the woman.
"No," replies the doctor, "but it will SEEM longer."

Nap?
Maybe I should have guessed from the logistics of it. But I didn't realize that I would never get to nap again, after I had children. At least not very often or very well.
On calm afternoons, both children will be entertained with toys, happily playing without a care. So I, the Mom, will lay down on the couch for a quick cat nap, thinking that I am still near enough should trouble arise. But I end up being too near.
If Eve notices me in a horizontal position she automatically goes in for the pile driver, "That's right folks, THE PILE DRIVER!" She climbs onto my stomach and starts poking my face to force my eyes open, laughing hysterically at her game.
If Lily finds me down, it's suddenly time to ask questions. How do you spell Kylee? Why do crayons break so easily? How come your nose is bigger than mine? How come Daddy has to go to work every day? What is the meaning of Life? (Just kidding on the last one.)
Sometimes a Mom just gets worn out, but that Mom just stays worn out, until the weekend, when hopefully Daddy will whisk the children away, just long enough for forty winks.

Being a Mom
I know sometimes I get in a rut thinking and talking only about the stuff my kids do that make my life difficult. And it's true they make me worry, and keep my house dirty. But I still say I love being a Mom.
This morning at preschool is picture day. So I was able to curl Lily's hair. She is such a girly girl. And I think it is so fun. I like seeing all the different dress-up outfits she comes up with all day. It's funny to me that she wouldn't wear pants for a couple of months. And it blows me away how much she loves make-up and nail polish. Since I hardly ever wear either.
Eve is so cute. She comes to me with her bottom lip out when she wants a kiss, it's almost always a wet one. She is getting very insistant on what she wants to wear, and makes her opinion known, even though she can't talk. She is willing to eat alot of whatever I make, which is nice since her sister doesn't. She has just become a climber, I'm constantly taking her off of tables, dressers and counters now.
I am in love with my kids. I love my work. I wouldn't take a different job for the world.

Bath
I have been busy, I promise. Even if I don't update my blog very often. I have decided it's time to refresh the look of our hall bathroom. It was a very dirty white with brass fixtures and a brown wood stained cabinent. Lily and I choose a very bright pink for the walls. I'm a little worried about the shade, since this room has no window, so no natural light.
I had a little episode with the big mirror. It was fixed to the wall with glue. I pulled it off, thinking maybe we could get a prettier one, or frame this one so it looked nicer. We decided later to just glue it back up and not spend any more money on the mirror. So the glue seemed to be holding it just fine after holding it for 10 minutes. We went on to other things. Maybe a half hour later the mirror had stretched the glue to the breaking point and fell. That put tons of shatter glass all over the bathroom, with liquid nails keeping the pieces glued to the sink, floor, rug, wall. I just threw out the rug, and worked really fast, trying to clean up the glue before it became permanent. Although I just found a few more pieces glued to the wall today.
We had to take a break, and still haven't bought a new mirror, or light fixture, but the faucet is pretty, and so is the shower curtain. Lily loves having a girly bathroom.
