Eventful Drive

6
We attend Sacrament meeting only with Grandma. At 10:40 we start our drive down to Las Vegas, NV. We decide to stop at Camp Williams to visit Dad’s grave. We get a little lost trying to find it, but do eventually. We stop at Ryan’s to return a few things he left at Grandma’s house. But we can’t find his bag of things in our disorganized car. In Payson we hit a storm with rain so heavy Gordon has to slow down to 10 mph, visibility is really low , but only in Payson. After Payson there were crosswinds that made our windows whistle. Around Beaver Eve had an exploding diaper. Just then the traffic was forced to stop because of a forest fire. So I cleaned her up while we were parked on the highway. We waited for about an hour for permission to continue the trip. The man in the truck in front of us had a really kind dog named Princess that the girls played with. The drive is 9 hours. We chat at Amber’s house for a little while, then go to Mom’s house to sleep.

The Last Days.

Mom, Amber and I walk around the neighborhood for exercise. We drive to Amber’s in-law’s home and have lunch and swim in their pool. Most of us take naps in the afternoon. We call Jessica and sing to her for her birthday. We have Hawaiian haystacks for dinner then watch Jessica’s wedding video that Mom just had made. After the girls go to bed the adults play Catchprase.

We pack up and head out, driving 6 hours to Mesa, AZ. Home finally!!! We clean out the car and start laundry.

Too Many Things

I am back from a week at Girl's Camp. I survived!!! Maybe barely, but I did it!

Our theme for the camp was "Got Treasure?" It goes along with the scripture from Matt 6:19-21 "...For where you're treasure is, there will your heart be also.."

Camp went really well. I am so pleased with how great it was. The weather really cooperated, raining the day we drove up, but stopping in time for us to unload and set up. The cloud cover helped to cool us off so we were only in the 80's (30 degrees lower than in our valley of the sun!)

We tried to focus on camping certification, spiritual messages and lots of fun firesides. The girls were all engaged and excited. I think our worst discipline was trying to get them to wear tennis shoes instead of flip-flops. Our first year girl swears she almost caught a snipe, I got to show off my one break-dancing move, we all ate enough candy to skip Halloween this year and we stayed up way too late playing the traditional games of Mafia and Murder in the Dark.

There were several workshops with lessons on our real "treasures" Self-esteem, Friendships, Testimony, and others. The Stake President gave a morningside on being healed by Christ that was very moving. The best part was the last night we had a Testimony meeting, it was just so nice to hear the girls stand up and say how much they held felt the Spirit there, and loved being there. Our hard work as leaders wasn't in vain.
