Too Many Things

I am back from a week at Girl's Camp. I survived!!! Maybe barely, but I did it!

Our theme for the camp was "Got Treasure?" It goes along with the scripture from Matt 6:19-21 "...For where you're treasure is, there will your heart be also.."

Camp went really well. I am so pleased with how great it was. The weather really cooperated, raining the day we drove up, but stopping in time for us to unload and set up. The cloud cover helped to cool us off so we were only in the 80's (30 degrees lower than in our valley of the sun!)

We tried to focus on camping certification, spiritual messages and lots of fun firesides. The girls were all engaged and excited. I think our worst discipline was trying to get them to wear tennis shoes instead of flip-flops. Our first year girl swears she almost caught a snipe, I got to show off my one break-dancing move, we all ate enough candy to skip Halloween this year and we stayed up way too late playing the traditional games of Mafia and Murder in the Dark.

There were several workshops with lessons on our real "treasures" Self-esteem, Friendships, Testimony, and others. The Stake President gave a morningside on being healed by Christ that was very moving. The best part was the last night we had a Testimony meeting, it was just so nice to hear the girls stand up and say how much they held felt the Spirit there, and loved being there. Our hard work as leaders wasn't in vain.

Summer's Over

Well, it's not really over. (It won't be until it's October here.) But our schedule is now full and we can't fit in anything else until school starts. We wanted to visit more family, play with more friends, camp one more time as a family...

Not that we don't have neat things lined up to do, Girl's Camp for me, Grandma visiting during that, visiting family in Idaho, a backpacking trip, Gordon's class reunion.

We just wanted to do even more. But kindergarten starts in early August, this is the first time we've had a deadline like this before. It's going to take some getting used to.

Mom and Me Swim Classes

We went to our first class yesterday and I thought it was silly. We play games and get wet, and I was thinking how I could have done it all on my own. Today I realized how special Eve thought the class was. This was a whole half hour that she had my undivided attention. When we go swimming as a family she doesn't get that. Now we have two weeks of one on one time scheduled for the second child who's probably never had so much parent time just to herself. So today I don't think the class is so silly after all.

Big Sister's crafts

This is Eve with a hand ful of glitter. She is getting quick and tall and was able to grab a bunch and spread it all over the floor. Now our floor sparkles and shines, even with out being mopped!
